DIRECTIONS FOR THE FCAT WRITING PROMPTS:

There are two choices for your writing prompt each week. You may choose either response question to answer. From your weekly short response prompts, you will choose one at progress report time for me to grade. From your weekly extended response prompts, you will choose one at report card time for me to grade.

Starting on the top line of your paper and the next 3 lines, write your name, date of prompt, period number and computer number. Then, begin your writing. You do not have to write the question, but make sure your answer indicates what the question is. You must use complete sentences with correct punctuation and spelling. I must be able to read your answer.

A short response should take you 3-5 minutes to answer on 8 lines or less of notebook paper. Supporting detail should be provided. An extended response should take you 5-15 minutes to answer on 12 lines or less of notebook paper. It should have at least 3 supporting details. Don't forget to read and answer the entire question.
