Dear Parents and Students,
The SMS Marching Band will perform at the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade that will take place on Monday, January 16, 2011. All Concert and Symphonic band members will comprise the SMS Marching Band. The SMS marching band will join Millennium MS and Seminole HS to form a combined marching band and perform “Land of 1000 Dances.”
The report time is 9 a.m. at Crooms Academy of Information Technology High School located at 2200 West 13th Street.
The end of parade disbursement area is Holly Avenue. Students must be picked up at this location by a parent by 11:00 a.m.
Students will receive 100 performance points for attending this parade. Please plan accordingly. If there is an unavoidable conflict, students must submit a written excuse prior to the parade or it will be an unexcused absence.
Students are expected to report (RAIN OR SHINE) to the designated meeting place. If there has been a last minute change, the Director will be at the meeting place at the appointed time to give new information. Do not believe rumors! Get the correct information directly from the Director.
Students are to wear the following:
*Official Band Polo (Black long sleeve shirts may be worn underneath, no jackets)
*Blue Jeans
*Black Tennis Shoes appropriate for walking
*Do not bring cases

1) Uniform Sizing: Thursday, Jan 12 and Friday Jan 13 from 11:05-11:50am (Symphonic Band)
2) Instrument Transportation for MLK Jr. Parade (2 needed): Monday, Jan 16, 8am SMS Band Room
3) MLK Jr. Parade Chaperones (5 needed): Monday, Jan 16 9am at Crooms HS.
